Managing Benefits® training courses are divided into two levels: Foundation and Practitioner. We offer these training courses separately, or as one combined course that enables delegates to acquire both Foundation and Practitioner certifications by only taking one course.

 

Managing Benefits Foundation and Practitioner

The Foundation and Practitioner course is five days long. The Foundation section provides delegates with a basic understanding of benefits management principles, methods, systems, roles, responsibilities, and records. Delegates will need to sit a Foundation examination before progressing onto Practitioner. The second part of this combined training course will focus on the Practitioner material. Practitioner will determine whether the delegate’s knowledge of benefits management is strong enough to tailor and implement the guidance to real workplace situations. Delegates will also need to complete a Practitioner level exam in order to acquire the Foundation and Practitioner certification. All exams will be taken during the week of the training course, Foundation normally on day three and Practitioner on the final day. The Knowledge Academy also provides Foundation and Practitioner Managing Benefits® training courses individually (see below).

 

Managing Benefits Foundation

The Foundation only Managing Benefits® training course is three days long. The course will cover benefits management definitions, scope, aims, and how to succeed with the framework. The seven principles and five practices will be explained, as will the key duties and responsibilities. What comprises benefits management documentation will be explored, and the implementation of the framework itself will be touched upon. Delegates will need to take a Managing Benefits® Foundation examination at the end of the training course in order to acquire the certification.

 

Managing Benefits Practitioner

The Practitioner only Managing Benefits® training course is two days long. The course will confirm whether or not delegates have the required knowledge to adapt and apply benefits management to real workplace scenarios. By the end of this Practitioner course, delegates will be able to plan benefits management implementation, select and tailor principles, and recognise activities that need to be undertaken in order to fulfill roles and responsibilities. As well as this, delegates will be able to analyse benefits management examples, deciding on resolutions to given problems that arise. Delegates are required to sit a Managing Benefits® Practitioner exam on the final day of the training course to gain the certification.

Yes, delegates will receive a pre-course reading pack, taken from the official APMG Managing Benefits® manual. They should read Chapter 1 (Introduction), Chapter 2 (What is Benefits Management?), Chapter 3 (The Benefits Management Principles), and the Glossary. We recommend you complete this reading to maximise your chances of success.
Delegates must be familiar with: The Benefits Management model (page 9), seven principles, and five practices, nine themes that are present throughout (pages 8-10). Furthermore it will be beneficial to understand and be able to recite the key characteristics of benefits management success (page 10) and understand the difference between output, outcome, capability, and benefit (table 2.1, and page 17) and provide own examples. (All page numbers are extracted from the official APMG Managing Benefits® manual).
