Praxis Framework™ Foundation and Practitioner Overview
In recent times the realm of P3 Management has expanded rapidly, and in response, the Praxis framework has been developed. Praxis functions to integrate all three disciplines of Project, Programme, and Portfolio Management. This comprehensive five-day training course will allow delegates to gain a thorough understanding of the Praxis methodology. Training will explore the four core sections of the Praxis Framework™, which are Knowledge, Method, Competence, and Capability Maturity. The familiarity of these four components is fundamental to acquiring a well-rounded awareness of the Praxis approach.
The first module of this Praxis Framework™ Foundation and Praxis Framework™ Practitioner training course will study the concept of ‘Knowledge’. The significance of environment will be explored, and the way in which the complexity of projects, programmes, and portfolios makes it difficult to differentiate completely between the three is highlighted. Likewise, contextual, and managerial notions feature throughout this portion, whereby delegates will become familiar with the influence of certain circumstances on projects, programmes, and portfolios. Similarly, the practice of management, including interpersonal techniques and aspects such as risk and scope will also be areas of focus.
Secondly, the ‘Method’ section will provide delegates with an essential knowledge of Praxis Process Models and documentation. All project and programme, delivery, and portfolio processes will be examined, as they utilise functional tools and mechanisms, and supply an approach centred around the life cycle. The course continues to explain governance, scope, and delivery documentation, as well as management plans, all of which are central to the effective governance of a project, programme, or portfolio.
The third core element of Praxis Framework™ Training is known as ‘Competence’. There are three competencies described in Praxis, which must be altered and tailored depending on the business environment. The first competency is linked to delivery within the knowledge component, the second corresponds with the individual processes as shown in the method section, and the third competency addresses the interpersonal skills as outlined in the knowledge element. Competencies are highly relevant to individuals wishing to succeed in a P3 (Projects, Programmes, and Portfolios) Managerial position.
The fourth module taught during this Praxis Framework™ Foundation and Practitioner course is ‘Capability Maturity’. This is a model that provides guidance for delivering projects, programmes, and portfolios successfully. Capability Maturity is a flexible approach that can be examined both internally and externally. Therefore, it can easily be adjusted to different contexts whilst remaining consistent to permit differentiation between contrasting organisations. This concludes the Foundation section of Praxis Framework™ Foundation and Practitioner training.
Following a thorough exploration of these vital Praxis components, we move onto the Practitioner section. This part will benefit delegates by focussing on the practical implementation of Praxis and the relationship between the four core practice elements of Praxis. Praxis has several links to other prominent Project and Programme Management frameworks, namely PRINCE2® and MSP®. This is since all three methodologies are based on a life cycle, which passes through multiple phases. This is also a topic that will be examined during the Practitioner portion of this course.
The Knowledge Academy's five-day training course will help you gain the full Praxis Framework Certification and allow delegates to adopt this project management framework to any given complex scenario.
