Control Objectives for Information and Related Technology (COBIT®) is a globally recognised IT control and governance framework, which sets out a series of generic processes for Enterprise Leaders, Managers, and IT Professionals. It allows for effective management of Information Systems and ensures that businesses are maximising the value of their Information Systems.
The COBIT® 5 framework is the latest version of COBIT® produced by ISACA. It is a recognised and effective IT framework, which involves the control and governance of Information Systems, and sets out a series of generic proven processes. COBIT® 5 can be used by enterprises of any size and from any sector to manage their Information Systems and get the best out of them. The COBIT® 5 framework is proven to work for any business because it allows businesses to sustain an equilibrium between realising benefits and optimising risk levels and resource utilisation.
The COBIT® framework has been successfully implemented by organisations such as Oracle, Maitland Group, Unisys, and GlaxoSmithKline. The use of this IT framework by Maitland has shown that many of the principles of COBIT® that have been specifically designed to aid IT, can in fact, be used across the entirety of the enterprise. Thus, employing COBIT® 5 certified individuals may prove highly valuable to the entire business.
COBIT® was developed by ISACA (Information Systems Audit & Control Association) and IT Governance Institute in 1996. ISACA is a not-for-profit independent association for IT governance professionals around the world. The organisation draws from the collective knowledge and experience of its global development team and aims to allow organisations to optimise their performance through improving their information and technology. COBIT® 5 is the newest edition of ISACA’s framework.
This new version provides a wealth of tools, resources, and guidance for Enterprise Leaders, Managers, and IT Professionals, enabling them to govern and manage enterprise IT, and subsequently, produce outstanding business optimisation. Enterprises can benefit substantially from implementing this framework, as it allows them to merge business and IT, ameliorate risk management, and strengthen cybersecurity.
The COBIT® 5 Foundation training course supplies candidates with a wealth of knowledge surrounding the optimisation of business performance using COBIT® 5’s IT governance and control framework. As it is not expected for trainees to have any prior experience or knowledge of this topic, this course is suited to any individual who is interested in, or wishes to enter into a career where this certification may prove useful.
