Prerequisites

The Agile Foundation course has no formal prerequisites. However, to take the Agile Practitioner section of the course, you must have passed the Agile Foundation exam. The Pre-course material will be sent out to all delegates prior to the course. This will need to be completed before arriving at the training.

This 4-day course combines the Agile Project Management Foundation and Practitioner courses into one course. The Foundation portion of the certification is an introduction to the Agile methodology and provides the training for the AgilePM® Foundation certification (APMG accredited).

Once the Agile PM Foundation certification has been achieved, delegates will progress onto the Agile PM Practitioner portion of the course, which takes place on the final day. The exam for the Leading SAFe® course is called SAFe 5.1 Agilist Exam. It’s a web-based exam that is provided by Scaled Agile. The fee for the exam in included in this course even though you do not do it with us. Successful completion of the exam will give you a one-year membership to the SAFe® Community Platform, which includes access to the SA Community of Practice. The exam can be taken up to 30 days after completing the course. The exam consists of:

  • Exam format: Multiple Choice.
  • Total exam questions: 45 questions.
  • Passing score: 35 out 45 (77%).
  • Exam delivery: Web-based (single-browser), Closed book, no outside assistance and timed.

Certified SAFe® Practitioner for Teams Training Overview

This fully accredited 2-day Scaled Agile Framework Practitioner Certification 5.1 (SAFe®) course uses the most current Lean-Agile methodology, SAFe® (5.1) and is aimed at teams that are a part of an Agile Release Train (ART) and focuses on increasing effectivity when working with other teams and the integration of Scrum, XP, and Kanban in an Agile focused environment. Furthermore, candidates can expect to develop and enhance a skill set that encompasses planning and executing PIs, planning, and executing iterations, breaking requirements into stories, and problem-solving whilst continually identifying areas for improvement.

For organisational success, rapid adaptation to the continually evolving technical and economic environment is required. Failure to do so will always result in the demise of companies that are not able to keep up. However, with a SAFe® Practitioner certification, you are certain to comfortably manoeuvre your way around any issues that may arise during the development or delivery of software.

 

Agile Release Trains are a core element to any SAFe® environment. An ART is a multiple-disciplinary, long-life team that works with stakeholders to deliver effective solutions, within a PI (Program Increment) timeframe. Certified SAFe® 5 Practitioner Examination

A Certified SAFe® Practitioner (SP) is a Scaled Agile Framework® (SAFe) team member responsible for using Scrum, Kanban, and Extreme Programming (XP) in a SAFe environment. Key areas of responsibility include planning Program Increments and Iterations, breaking requirements into stories, developing incrementally with built-in quality, demonstrating value at a team and program level, and problem-solving impediments to drive relentless improvement.

  • Exam format: Multiple choice, multiple select
  • Exam delivery: web-based (single-browser), closed book, no outside assistance, timed.
  • Exam duration: 90 Minutes
  • Total exam questions: 45
  • Passing score: 35 out of 45 (77%)
  • Retake policy: Second attempt on exam (first retake) can be done immediately after first attempt. Third attempt requires a 10-day wait. Fourth attempt requires a 30-day wait.

The first step toward becoming a Certified SAFe professional is to attend the SAFe® for Teams course. This is a requirement, because attending the course provides access to all the study materials and the exam.

We provide the official Agile Project Management Handbook, The Knowledge Academy courseware folder, official certificate and refreshments.
Yes, the course includes the both the Agile Foundation and Practitioner exams.
AgilePM® Foundation has no prerequisites. However, to take the AgilePM® Practitioner exam, you must have passed Agile Foundation. The DSDM Altern Foundation or Advanced Practitioner certificates are also an acceptable substitute.
The Foundation exam is multiple choice and the Practitioner exam is in the "objective-testing" format, a style of complex multiple-choice examination.
Please arrive at your course venue for 08:45am.

There will be some homework throughout the course. Completing this will ensure you have the best possible chance of passing the exam.
You will receive confirmation details as soon as your place has been booked and confirmed.
There are a number of routes available to you once you have gained AgilePM® certification. If you wish to learn about a more traditional project management approach which can be used to work alongside AgilePM®, you could gain PRINCE2® certification. If you are familiar with PRINCE2 already and would like to understand how it can work with Agile, you could look at the PRINCE2 Agile® certification. Alternatively, if you would like to explore Agile more, the Scrum certification provides a framework for using Agile practices in a less traditional, less rigid way.
AgilePM® qualifications are gained by sitting exams. All of our Agile courses include the relevant exam. Alternatively, if you are self-studying, APMG offer public exam sessions at centres around the world.
We recommend the official Agile Project Management Handbook v2.0, which is published by the DSDM Consortium and designed to complement the Foundation and Practitioner training courses. The book also works beyond training as a general resource on the Agile Project Management methodology and how it works, making it a useful reference tool for anybody using or looking to use AgilePM® practices in their day to day career.
