Founded in 1837, Atlanta is the capital of the American state of Georgia. It is the most populated city in the state with an estimated 463,878 inhabitants. During the 1960s Atlanta gained the reputation of “the city too busy to hate” following the Civil Rights Movement where citizens and leaders made their progressive views heard.
Atlanta has a very diverse economy with demanding sectors such as: Information Technology, Professional and Business services, logistics and media operations. Some of Atlanta’s famous landmarks include: the ‘World of Coca-Cola’, Centennial Olympic Park which is the home of the 1996 Olympic games and there is also the CNN Center which provides behind-the-scene tours for the TV News Network. There are many Higher Education facilities in Atlanta such as; Georgia Institute of Technology, Emory University, Georgia State University and Clark Atlanta University.
