Halifax (otherwise known as the ‘Halifax Regional Municipality’) is the capital of Nova Scotia in Canada. Halifax has a population of around 410,000 people, most of which are based in the urban area of Halifax Harbour. The Halifax Regional Municipality consists of the former locations of Halifax, Dartmouth, Bedford, and the Municipality of Halifax County. This merge was completed in 1996. There is a high level of public schools located in Halifax, around 140 and are administered by the Halifax Regional School Board mostly, but a few by the Counseil scolaire acadien provincial. There are also six private schools which operate independently. There are a number of universities including Dalhousie University, Saint Mary’s University and the Atlantic School of Theology. Because of the number of universities and colleges, and their highness in quality, Halifax is seen a hub of youth culture.
