Calgary is located in the south of Alberta, Canada and has a population of around 1 million people, making it the largest city in Alberta and the third largest in Canada. It also became the first Canadian city to host the Olympic Winter Games. The biggest university in Calgary is the ‘University of Calgary’ which enrols around 30,000 students. It offers a wide variety of degrees, diplomas and certificates. Also in Calgary are Mount Royal University, SAI Polytechnic and Athabasca University, which provides distance education programs for students. There are a number of private universities as well, including Reeves College and Columbia College.
