The Ladder Safety formula, often remembered as the "Four-to-One Rule," states that for every four feet of ladder height, the ladder base should be positioned one foot away from the vertical surface it rests against, ensuring stability and reducing the risk of tipping over.
To set up a ladder safely, ensure the ground is level and stable, extend it fully, secure it at the top and bottom, maintain the correct angle (four-to-one ratio), use ladder levellers if necessary, and inspect for defects or damage before climbing.
The various types of portable ladders include step ladders, extension ladders, platform ladders, combination ladders, telescoping ladders, and multi-purpose ladders, each designed for specific tasks and height requirements, offering versatility and convenience in various work environments.
Ladders should be kept in a dry, well-ventilated area. They should be kept away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. Ideally, they should be hung vertically or placed horizontally on racks to prevent damage and ensure easy access and inspection.
In this training, you will learn essential skills such as selecting the appropriate ladder, conducting inspections, setting up ladders safely, using proper climbing techniques, and identifying hazards to prevent accidents and injuries while working at heights.
