Management of Portfolios (MoP®) provides guidance for Senior Executives and Practitioners to make decisions regarding investment in large-scale change through the implementation of projects and programmes, whilst ensuring that the business continues to function as normal. Portfolio Management approaches the management of change projects and programmes from a strategic top-down viewpoint, rather than micro-managing them, in order to maximise improvement. The objective of this method is to make informed decisions and amplify the financial benefits delivered to the business.
MoP® is aligned with the Project Management methodology PRINCE2® and the Programme Management technique MSP®, however MoP® focuses on managing the change delivered by projects and programmes, rather than the individual initiatives.
MoP® supplies Senior Executives and Practitioners with a selection of principles, practices and techniques that are used to initiate or renew Portfolio Management within a business. The MoP® methodology provides these individuals with a clear view of what is in the portfolio, how much it is costing, the risks involved, objectives, progression, and the impact on the day-to-day running of the business.
Who is the MoP® certification for?
The MoP® training courses are suited to all those involved in the selection and implementation of change initiatives, these include:
Portfolio Managers
Senior Responsible Owners
Management Board Members
Portfolio Office Contributors
Business Case Writers
Project and Portfolio Appraisers
However, as there are no prerequisites, this course would be a route into a Portfolio Management career for those who do not have prior relevant experience.
