Memphis is located within Tennessee on the fourth flood plain on Chickasaw Bluff which is just below the Mississippi and Wolf River. Only established in 1819 as a city within Tennessee, Memphis is the youngest of the major cities within the state. Some of the Memphis colleges and universities include Memphis College of Art, LeMoyne–Owen College, University of Memphis Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law, Christian Brothers University and the University of Memphis. As well as being the oldest public college of dentistry within the United States, the University of Tennessee College of Dentistry is also the oldest dental college in the south of the United States as it was founded in 1878.
