Antwerp is the home to one University and many colleges. The University of Antwerp was founded in 2003, although it has roots dating back to 1852. The campus is situated in the city centre and houses around 20,000 local students and around 1,800 foreign students. The University is split into 9 faculties and offers students over 100 bachelor, masters and postgraduate programmes. Antwerp is also the home to serveral colleges, such as Charlemagne University College, Plantin University College, Artesis University College and Artesis University College which collectively house over 23,000 students.
