San Antonio is the seventh most populated city in the USA with an estimated population of 1.4 million people. The name is derived from the Spanish for Saint Anthony. Education in the USA is provided by both public and private schools, and is mandatory until the age of 16. At age 18, US citizens are able to engage in higher education. The largest university in the city is the the University of Texas at San Antonio with over 28,000 pupils. There are also many private universities in the city including the highly respected Trinity University. This is a private liberal arts university that was founded in 1869. It offers up to 45 major programs and 60 minors, as well as 6 degree level programs. In 2013 it was named the US best university for Masters Studies by the Washington monthly.
