Providence is the capital of Rhode Island. It is one of the oldest cities in the United States having been established in 1636. It has a population of around 177,000 people and is located in the Providence County. Brown University is a private Ivy League university which was founded in 1764. Brown has produced seven winners of the Nobel Prize, fifty seven scholars and eight billionaires. The unemployment rate in Providence is at 6.9%. This has improved greatly since last year’s rate of 9%.
