Between 2006 and 2015 the unemployment rate averaged around 11.5 percent. The highest rate recorded was in 2011 when it stood at 23.9 percent. The lowest rate was 5.3 percent in 2006. Lagos is the home of the University of Lagos that was founded in 1962. It is a federal government research university.
