Caracas is the capital of the Greater Caracas Area and is also the largest city in Venezuela. Caracas is situated in the north of the country and has a population of around 3.2 million. The metro area has a population of around 5.2 million. The Metropolitan University was founded in 1970. The university has a student population of around 5000 students and can study in areas such as mathematics, psychology, languages, education, engineering, business, economics, accounting, law and liberal studies. Another university is the Bolivarian University of Venezuela which was established in 2003 and has a student population of around 180,000. The university offers courses in areas such as agroecology, architecture, communication, education, animation, management, medicine, technology, law and political sciences.
