The University of Wroclaw is a public research university that was established in 1702 making it one of the oldest universities in Central Europe. The university houses around 30,000 students offering courses in areas such as business, archaeology, politics, chemistry, law, European studies and communication. The Wroclaw Medical University was established in 1950 and houses around 6000 students who study in areas such as medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, public health and postgraduate education.
