Hanoi is the capital of Vietnam and is the second largest city in the country. The city has a population of around 2.6 million people. The metropolitan area population is around 6.5 million people. The Hanoi Medical University was established in 1902 during the French colonisation. The university was named after Alexandre Yersin who was involved in discovering the bacillus responsible for the bubonic plague. The university became Yersinia Pestis until it was renamed to its current now. Vietnam National University, Hanoi was established in 1993 and has 10 faculties in operation which include; science, humanities, languages, international studies, engineering, technology, business, education, law, business, medicine and pharmacy.
