Port of Spain is the capital city of Trinidad and Tobago, and is located on the island of Trinidad. The city has a muincipal population of nearly 37,000 people, metropolitan population of over 128,000, and an unemployment rate of 3.6%. Port of Spain has over 40 Government/Assisted schools, with nearly 18,000 students enrolled in local primary schools, and over 15,600 enrolled in local secondary schools. Port of Spain is also home to the St. Augustine Campus of the University of the West Indies. The campus has over 15,500 students enrolled across its eight faculties, studying disciplines as diverse as Gender and Development Studies, Science and Technology and Food and Agriculture. Other higher education institutes located in Port of Spain are the Queen’s Royal College, the National Academy for the Performing Arts and the University of Trinidad and Tobago, which was established in 2004 and has a number of campuses and institutes in Port of Prince.
