Jeddah is a city of Saudi Arabia in the Hijaz Tihamah region. It is the largest city in the Makkah Province. Jeddah has an estimated population of around 3.4 million people. The city is the principal gateway to Mecca. The unemployment rate of Saudi Arabia has remained unchanged between 2014 and 2015. It stayed at 5.7 percent. Between 1999 and 2014 the average rate of unemployment in the country was 5.5 percent. Saudi Arabia’s all time high unemployment rate is 6.3 percent in 2006 and the lowest rate was 4.4 percent in 1999. Jeddah is home to a number of higher education institutes, including: King Abdulaziz University, Islamic Fiqh Academy and Teacher's College.
