Kigali is the capital city of Rwanda, and is also its largest city. It has a population of approximately 1.1 million people and an unemployment rate of 14%. Kigali is home to a number of notable primary and secondary schools, including Lycée de Kigali, the second largest secondary school in Rwanda, Green Hills Academy, a prestigious private school, Antoine de Saint-Exupéry de Kigali, a French school, École Belge de Kigali, a Belgian School and the International School of Kigali. Kigali is also home to Kigali Independent University, which was founded in 1996 and currently has over 11,000 undergraduate and postgraduate students enrolled across 16 departments.
