The Victoria University of Wellington was established in 1897 by act of parliament and was named after Queen Victoria, as this was the 60th year of her coronation. Toi Whakaari is New Zealand’s National Drama School located in Wellington. The school offers training to students in acting, directing, costume design, entertainment, performing arts management and design. Toi Whakaari houses up to 150 students a year and host 20 live shows a year.
