Skopje is the biggest city and the capital city of Macedonia. It is the political, economic and cultural centre of the country. The average rate between 1993 and 2015 was 31 percent with a record high of 37.3 percent in 2005. Recent trends are showing continuous decline in the unemployment rate. The largest and oldest being the Saint Cyril and Methodius University is located in the city.
