Antananarivo is the biggest city and the capital of Madagascar. The larger urban area surrounding the city, known as Antananarivo-Renivohitra is the captial of the Analamanga region in the country. Most of the countries higher education system is located in Antananarivo, including the college of medicine and the University of Antananarivo. The three branches of the national public university are located at Antananarivo, Mahajanga and Fianarantsoa.
