Yokohama is the second largest city in Japan. It is located in Kanagawa Prefecture on Tokyo Bay and has a population of around 3.7 million people. It is one of the most prominent port cities of the country. The city operates public elementary and middle schools. The Yokohama City Board of Education manages the nine public high schools. However the rest of the public high schools are operated by Kanagawa Prefectural Board of Education. The largest university in the city is Yokohama National University which is one the highest ranked establishments in the country.
