These include Petra University and Al-Isra University. University of Jordon is the oldest higher education establishment in the country. It was founded in 1962 and is considered the number one in Jordon. It enrols around 37,000 students a year. The national language of Jordon is Arabic. Most residents however speak English. The most popular languages after English is French and German. The unemployment rate in Jordan stands at 12.9%. The unemployment rate in Amman is around the same at a rate of around 12%.
