Jakarta, also known as the Special Capital Region of Jakarta, is the capital city of Indonesia. The largest city of Indonesia, it has a population of nearly ten million people. Jakarta is home to three public universities, two state polytechnics and a number of private universities. The oldest university is the University of Indonesia, which, while formally established in 1950, has roots dating back to 1851. More than 47 thousand students are enrolled at the university, which offers courses in 14 different facilities.
