Jakarta, also known as the Special Capital Region of Jakarta, is the capital city of Indonesia. The largest city of Indonesia, it has a population of nearly ten million people. Jakarta is home to three public universities, two state polytechnics and a number of private universities. The oldest university is the University of Indonesia, which, while formally established in 1950, has roots dating back to 1851.
