Nuuk is the capital city of Greenland and is the largest city in the country with an estimated population of around 16,000 people. The official language of Nuuk is Greenlandic, an Eskimo-Aleut language. Due to its links with North America and Denmark many natives also speak English and Danish. There is just the one university in Greenland, the University of Greenland, which is located in the capital city of Nuuk. Most of the causes here are taught in Danish with a few being taught in Greenlandic and English. This is an extremely small university that in 2007 only had 150 students enrolled. The size of the university limits the number of courses that are offer in the country. Most Greenlandic students of higher education study at universities in Europe and North America as the Greenlandic government provide funding for this.
