Algiers is the capital of Algeria. It is also the largest city in the country. The universities was founded out of a collection of higher education institutes that were founded in the 1800’s during the French colonial period of Algiers. This university was only the second university to be established in Africa. Among the seven faculties the university has faculties of law, medicine and Islamic sciences.
