The University of Havana was founded in 1728 and is the oldest university in Cuba and was one of the first to be founded in the Americas. The university now consists of 15 faculties and has a number of distance learning centres throughout Cuba. The university has around 25,000 courses and offers study in Biology, Pharmacy, Physics, Geography, Mathematics, Law and Economics.
