Bern is recognised as a Cultural World Heritage Site by UNESCO due to its medieval structure and buildings and its famous Zytglogge clock tower is a contributing factor towards this award. Bern is also known for being the headquarters of the Federal Palace, or Bundeshaus, in which the national parliament is held.
