Rio de Janeiro is located in the metropolitan area and is the second most populated. The city is the second largest city in Brazil and has a population of around 6,500,000 inhabitants. Rio has been ranked as the eighteenth largest city in the world. The city is home to various large industries including oil, mining and telecommunications.
