Formerly known as Brunei town, Bandar Seri Begawan is the biggest city in the Sultanate of Brunei. It has a population of around 20,000 people. All levels of education are available in Bandar Seri Begawan from kindergarten to the tertiary level. Education is free throughout Brunei including university both in Brunei and abroad. The University of Brunei Darussalam was establish in 1985 and is located 4.5 kilometres from the centre of the city of Bandar Seri Begawan. It has outlined three missions; to educate, to conduct research and to serve the broader community. Faculties of this university include: arts & social sciences, business economics & policy studies, science, language, health sciences, education, and Brunei studies.
