Cotonou has a population of around 762,000 people and is the largest city and economic centre of Benin. Benin’s employment rates are at a maximum of 1.5% in 2013. The West African Union University is a private university in Cotonou and was established in 2014. The university has around 50 students and around 400 distance learners.
