Secondary schools like Harrison College and The St. Michael School are situated in Bridgetown. The University of the West Indies has campuses in over 18 English speaking countries, such as Barbados and The Cayman Islands. The University of the West Indies was originally a part of the University of London. The University was originally opened in 1948, but the Bridgetown Campus was opened in 1963.
