Yerevan is the largest and capital city of Armenia. It can be located along the Hrazdan River and is inhabited with approximately over 1 million residents. Yerevan emphasises on education and offers over 260 schools. 200 of the schools are state owned, 169 are run by the municipality and the ministry of education run 51 schools. Yerevan also offers 43 private schools. The city is also home to 46 universities, 12 are state-owned, 6 are inter-governmental, and 27 are private. Yerevan is home to Yerevan State University (YSU); it was created in 1919 and is the oldest university in the city; it now teaches over 9,000 students.
