Abu Dhabi is the capital city of the United Arab Emirates. It is the second most populous city behind Dubai. In 1975 the first government institution of higher education was opened in the United Arab Emirates. This was the United Arab Emirates University. It is centrally located in Al Ain but also has a campus in Abu Dhabi. The university has graduate and under graduate programs in nine different colleges. These colleges include: business and economics, education, engineering, food and agriculture, humanities and social sciences and law. They also offer foundation programs to prepare students for university studies. They have foundation courses in in English, Arabic and Mathematics and other support in making the transition from school to university.
