Andorra la Vella is the largest and the capital city of the Principality of Andorra. Since 2011 it has had a population of approximately of 22,000. It is situated high, 1,023 metres (3,356 ft), in the east Pyrenees between Spain and France. Andorra la Vella educational system was implemented in 1982 and has 3 levels: Elementary, Secondary and Higher Education; with elementary and secondary educations compulsory for Andorran children. It contains a Spanish Primary School that is located in Escuela Española de Andorra la Vella. It also contains a Spanish international secondary school called the Instituto Español de Andorra (IEA), which can be located in La Margineda in Andorra la Vella.
