What is CISSP?

Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) is the leading certification for Security Professionals that allows them to demonstrate knowledge and experience in Information Security. It is vendor-neutral and acknowledged worldwide as a merit of achievement, in part due to it being the first Information Security certification to meet the demanding requirements of ISO/IEC Standard 17024. This is a conformity assessment for organisations who have the responsibility of certifying individuals.

The certification draws from the latest, relevant Common Body of Knowledge that is provided by (ISC)2 (International Information System Security Certification Consortium, Inc.). This is a not-for-profit organisation that is known worldwide for specialising in certifying IT Security Professionals. This course is specifically suited to individuals who wish to pursue a career in the Information Security sector, or is already employed in the industry.

The CISSP training course provides delegates with a theory-based approach to learning the security process. The course is centred around teaching the fundamental domains of Information Security. These eight domains provide delegates with all the information they require to obtain a comprehensive understanding of Information Security and pass the CISSP exam.

Despite being a theory-based course, the CISSP certification trains individuals to practically apply what they have learnt. Hence, CISSP’s have the knowledge and skills required to be able to design, develop, apply, and manage a security program to prevent malicious cyber attacks. This makes these individuals greatly desirable for employers. They are crucial additions to the team as they can prevent a number of potentially harmful attacks to an organisation’s systems occurring.
