In order to accrue your 60 PDUs, there are five different methods, including:
- Category 1 - Formal Academic Education - If you are currently studying then you can gain 15 PDUs for the average 15 week semester, so potentially 45 within a year from academia alone. Speak to your university and the body itself to understand precisely how many PDUs you can achieve.
- Category 2 - Professional Activities and Self-Directed Learning - there are many ways to gain PDUs within this category, for example:
- 40 PDUs for being the main author of a book
- 15 PDUs for managing a project for 1,500 hours
- 10 PDUs for teaching a project management course
- Up to 5 PDUs for speaking at your local Project Management Institute (PMI)® chapter dinner meeting
- Category 3 - Attending Educational Programmes - including Project management Institute (PMI)® chapters and specific interest groups (SIGs) that involve webinars
- Category 4 - 1 PDU for each hour attended to a project managing training course run by non-accredited training providers
- Category 5 - Volunteer Service for your chapter - this will gain you a maximum of 10 PDUs depending on the level of commitment. The main goal of volunteering is to continue developing your Project Management Professional (PMP)® network and contribute to your local project management community
