History of MoV®

MoV® originates from value analysis. Value analysis is an approach that was developed by Lawrence D Miles during the Second World War whilst working with General Electric. General Electric experienced shortages of materials and skilled workers, hence had to look for replacements. Value analysis achieved cost reductions and product improvements, and was so successful within General Electric that it became a worldwide phenomenon, arriving in the UK in 1957.

The Office of Government Commerce assembled MoV® from other techniques such as the P3RM Guidance. In November 2010, the new Management of Value guidance was launched in London, thus it is evident just how far value management has come.
