History of COBIT

COBIT stands for "Control Objectives for Information and Related Technology" and is a basis for auditing the IT management function. It was started in 1996 by a company known as ISACA, Information Systems Audit and Control Association. The second version was released in 1998 and includes implementation tool set and high level and detailed control objectives. The third version was released in 2000 and includes the management guidelines.
