Control Objectives for Information and Related Technology (COBIT®) was created by ISACA as a framework for IT governance and management. COBIT® gives managers the ability to bridge the gap between technical issues, business risks and control requirements.
ISACA is an international professional association originating in Israel. They identified a requirement for an integrated source of guidance and information in the field. ISACA released COBIT® originally in 1996, with COBIT® 5, the current version, released in 2012. The framework supports the governance of IT by aligning business goals with the goals and processes of IT. COBIT® provides recommended best practices for the control process on information technology and systems and the idea of aligning business with IT.
