What are the differences between Six Sigma and Lean Six Sigma?

The demarcation between Six Sigma and Lean Six Sigma is unclear and it’s common to get confused between the two. Fundamentally, these methodologies have similar objectives, but diverge in terms of how they approach targets. Six Sigma is considered a more active method that focuses on decreasing variation and increasing control within processes using statistical methods. On the other hand, Lean Six Sigma combines elements of Lean and Six Sigma to remove issues and improve business processes, emphasising waste removal and promoting the DMAIC approach.
