History of Primavera

This software was originally created by a company called Eagle Ray Software Systems, Inc. in New York and was designed to be a true enterprise project management software solution. They had spotted a gap in the market where vendors of desktop tools had failed to create a purpose built software and instead re-engineered their old systems and marketed them as “enterprise” products.

In 1999 Primavera bought Eagle Ray Software Systems and rebranded the software as Primavera P3/e. they then went on to develop the web-based features of the product to meet increased demand for browser based enterprise systems. By 2002 the system began its transition to becoming fully web-based project portfolio solution.

Primavera P6 was released in 2007 and represents the fulfilment of the web strategy, this allows users to manage the system completely via the web without the need for the original client software for administrative operations.
