What is NLP?

NLP stands for neuro-linguistic programming and it is an approach to communication, personal development, and psychotherapy. It was created by Richard Bandler and John Grinder in the 1970s. It claims that there is a connection between neurological processes, language and behavioral patterns that are learned from experiences. It is said that this then helps us to achieve our specific goals in life.

The creators claim that the NLP method can model the skills of exceptional people so that they can be acquired by anyone. They also claim that you can use this method to cure phobias, habitual disorders, psychosomatic illnesses, learning problems and even the common cold. NLP is often used by hypnotherapists and by seminars marketed to business and government.
